This session will discuss how anaerobic, low-temperature wastewater treatment can be used to reduce energy consumption and provide a viable alternative to applied aerobic systems. Examining lab-based and field examples it will highlight the significance of this work and the potential benefits to the rural community, in particular to the impacts of low temperature on the process.

Diversification - Breathing life and value into rural places and spaces

This can usually be achieved through utilising existing assets and realising the potential of your property through appropriate diversification schemes. We will talk through projects where we have obtained challenging and unusual planning consents, adding value for owners and creating alternative means of income, leading the development or diversification from inception to completion.

Debbie Queen & Nikki Cherry - William Scott Abbott Trust at Sacrewell Heritage Farm and Country Centre
There was this one time, at Farm Camp...
Sacrewell Farm has operated as a successful farm park for nearly 40 years, but when the charitable trust decided to re-focus on their agricultural education mission, we knew we had to go beyond a few posters of pigs and cows in the barns. By combining the ag-ed mission with getting children and families outdoors, we created a unique and fun way of telling our story to new audiences.
