About Simon Marrington

Simon has over 20 years of public and private sector managerial experience in the UK forest industry. He has an in-depth understanding of the natural
flood management agenda, having previously co-ordinated delivery of the DEFRA land management project ‘Slowing the Flow at Pickering’. Simon has a comprehensive knowledge of current national and regional grant funding opportunities available to landowners. He also has experience of delivering large scale operational forest management programmes, commercial Christmas tree production and the management of trees and woodlands on golf courses. Simon now leads on seeking out business opportunities and meeting the needs of new clients for Tilhill Forestry throughout North and Central England.

Simon will present an overview of the benefits which woodland creation and management can offer landowners and a summary of the various financial incentives on offer, both for new planting and bringing existing woodland back into management.
