Nigel Aylwin-Foster

Last Chance to Secure Around £1 million of Renewable Heat Incentive

About Nigel Aylwin-Foster

Nigel completed a full first career in the Army, including command of the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment. He retired as a Brigadier. Despite being a philosophy graduate, his final appointment was Director of the Technology Division at the Defence Academy, responsible for technology education and project management training across all four Services. He joined ReEnergise in 2015. He is a keen advocate of tackling Climate Change, but sees his primary role as providing pragmatic advice on the potential risks and benefits of each opportunity for a project, rather than taking a purely evangelical stance. Whilst the nature of the role demands a strong technical grasp of low-carbon technologies his approach could be summed up as: ‘let’s please keep it clear, straightforward, and think about it from the client’s perspective.’

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) subsidy for low-carbon heat is ending on March 31st 2021, so there is about 18 months to get off oil affordably with the help of this very generous Government scheme. This seminar will explore the two qualifying technologies, ground source heat pump (GSHP) and biomass and their application in district heating systems in the rural estates sector. Nigel will discuss the policy landscape and direction of travel pre and post the RHI, as well as talk through recent major projects.
