About Lord Carnarvon
Lord Carnarvon read Geography at St John’s Oxford and then worked in small software companies whilst always being involved helping his father at Highclere. In the 1990s he was part of Telecom Express a successful automated telephone services company and also started the first commercial use of Highclere Castle for weddings, hospitality and events and as a visitor attraction. He has been part of Porchester Farms the estate farming operation for many years and helped his father start Highclere Castle Horse Feeds which supplies oats & haylage to the performance horse Industry. Since 2002 he has worked with his wife Fiona to develop Highclere Castle and estate into a globally recognised Heritage Attraction, preserve the heritage buildings and landscape and now wants to move Highclere into the high value spirits and cigar industry with an eye to further products in this area.
Highclere Castle is well known as a visitor attraction and the location for the Downton Abbey TV series and now a movie out in September. To widen income streams for the future Lord & Lady Carnarvon have created books on family and history of the place, new products to sell worldwide such as the Highclere Castle Cigar and new Gin and a wall garden vineyard, and on the farm a new small bale Sanfoin mix for horses and Lord Carnarvon will explain the background to these projects.
