About Dr Alistair Nesbitt
Alistair is a Viticulture Climatologist with significant expertise in how weather and climate interface with wine production, globally. He holds a PhD in viticulture and climate science and a BSc and Master’s degree in Viticulture & Oenology. Previously Alistair has worked in and managed vineyards and wineries in New Zealand, Australia, and the UK. Through Vinescapes he draws on 20-years’ experience to help UK wine production businesses establish and operate sustainably, he also lectures internationally on viticulture – climate relations, consults to new vineyards, governments and the global wine industry.
Grape and wine production is one of the fastest growing agricultural sectors in the UK. The boom in English and Welsh vineyards is being underpinned by changing climatic conditions, technology, investment and a market hungry for high quality ‘local’ wine. This seminar is for those interested in potential ventures into viticulture (grape growing) and/or wine production. It will focus on market opportunities and risks, investment requirements and geographical suitability.
